Expertise: Dr. Bearman's current research interests center on four main agenda: 1) Using consumer feedback, practice-based evidence, and the existing evidence base to adapt or redesign interventions for better fit in usual care contexts where children and families receive services 2) Identifying training and supervision processes that foster the adoption, implementation, and sustainability of empirically supported interventions for youth 3) The role of treatment integrity (adherence, competence, and differentiation) in the effectiveness of youth interventions and 4) The use of non-traditional providers and settings to increase access to effective interventions. Dr. Bearman has specific expertise in empirically supported interventions for youth with depression, anxiety, conduct disorders and traumatic stress; dissemination and implementation science; observational behavioral coding systems to assess therapy and supervision process; and mixed-methods approaches to research, including experimental and quasi-experimental design, qualitative and community participatory research, and longitudinal risk factor modeling. Dr. Bearman has also worked with community partners in a number of different child service contexts, including schools, clinics, and child welfare agencies.

Expertise: Dr. Carlson researches the efficacy of family assessment, treatment, and intervention. She also examines family-peer-school linkages. More broadly, Dr. Carlson is interested in integrated behavioral health, attachment theory, and consultation theories and processes. Dr. Carlson's most recent research, which is funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, focuses on ethnic differences in parenting and the effects of ethnic diversity on the peer social relations and psychosocial development of middle school youth. Dr. Carlson previously co-authored two books - "Family-School Intervention: A Systems Perspective" and "Family Assessment: A Guide for Clinicians and Researchers." She is a Fellow in the American Psychological Association, where she currently serves as a council representative and member of the Committee on Accreditation, and is past president of the Division of School Psychology.

Expertise: Dr. Carter's research interests are reflected in her work in local schools. She has developed and overseen a school-wide social emotional learning curriculum, as well as the "Response to Intervention" three tier model for academic and behavioral issues, at a local elementary school. Dr. Carter has also coordinated a school-based intervention research project examining the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy for adolescent girls with clinical depression.

Expertise: Dr. Falbo is an internationally recognized expert on the social and psychological characteristics of only children, including Chinese only children. She has studied the effects of sibling status on human development, including educational attainment and health in later life. She has studied the impact of ethnic minority status and parental support on educational outcomes, most notably writing the book Latino High School Graduation with Harriett D. Romo. Dr. Falbo is presently examining the effects of China's one-child policy on the personalities of Chinese children and adults, and is beginning a project to develop tools to assess explicit and implicit attitudes toward the one or two child family.

Expertise: Dr. Marie-Anne Suizzo is primarily interested in how parent-child relationships shape children's and adolescents' development and learning across cultures and ethnic groups. Her research has focused on parental involvement, child socialization, and identity development. Dr. Marie-Anne Suizzo's research includes on cultural models of parenting during early childhood and adolescence, fathering and father-child relationships across cultures and ethnic groups, as well as parental academic socialization and its effects on children's and adolescents' academic motivation and achievement, especially among at-risk youth. Dr. Suizzo is also interested in parental racial and ethnic socialization and its effects on the development of ethnic minority children. Finally, Dr. Suizzo examines parental education effects on children's development and achievement, especially during school transitions (kindergarten, middle school, and college).
