Mellie Price is a recognized educator, thought leader, and public speaker specializing in innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization. She is executive director of TEXAS Entrepreneurship and director of the Brumley Institute for Graduate Entrepreneurship. Price is also an assistant professor of instruction in the Rosenthal Department of Management at The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business.

A serial entrepreneur with three decades of experience on all sides of the lab-to-market gap, she has co-founded and sold multiple companies, including Front Gate Solutions, a pioneer of entertainment technology systems acquired by Live Nation. Price also co-founded Capital Factory, recognized by PitchBook as the most active investor in Texas since 2010. As an investor, adviser, and board member, she has evaluated thousands of ventures grounded in science and engineering, in sectors including medical devices and health technology, data security, energy transition, space, and defense technology.

For the past decade she has supported translational research and commercialization at UT, initially as executive director of commercialization at Dell Medical School helping to build Texas Health CoLab, and most recently advising hundreds of Ph.D. students and faculty members commercializing their discoveries. Price is the founder and program lead of the Global Commercialization Academy and the Global Commercialization Certification Program, delivering commercialization and business training and support to researchers worldwide.

She holds a B.S. in biology and an M.S. in technology commercialization from UT, where she has taught in the College of Natural Sciences, McCombs, and Texas Executive Education programs for over a decade.
