John J. Ruszkiewicz was instrumental in creating the Department of Rhetoric and Writing in 1993 and directed the unit from 2001-05. He served as president of the Conference of College Teachers of English (CCTE) of Texas, which gave him its Frances Hernández TeacherScholar Award in 2012. He is the author of numerous books including The Scott, Foresman Handbook for Writers (9th edition, 2010), How To Write Anything (3rd edition, 2015), and Everything's An Argument (7th edition, 2016). His most recent book is A Readers Guide to College Writing.
