David Oshinsky is a renowned scholar of 20th century U.S. political and cultural history. His Pulitzer Prize-winning book, "Polio: An American Story" (2005) has helped inspire Bill Gates to put eliminating polio among his top philanthropic priorities. Dr. Oshinsky is currently a Distinguished Scholar in Residence and director of the Division of Medical Humanities at New York University. In 2009, Dr. Oshinsky received the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Dean's Medal for significant contributions to the field of public health.
